Terms of sale
These apply when you buy a SigBuddy from this website. They're written to be read, not to be survived. The section worth your attention before you order is what it needs to work.
Who you're buying from
SigBuddy, NZBN 9429053437631, a sole trader based in Auckland, New Zealand. You can reach us at contact@sigbuddy.com, and that is the fastest way to reach a person. Email us before sending anything back, so we can give you the return address and tell you what to include.
What you're buying
A SigBuddy display — 2.8-inch, 4.3-inch or 5-inch — in a 3D-printed case and stand, with a USB-A to C cable. A USB power adaptor is not included; any phone charger will run it.
The display shows live readings from your own Sigenergy system: solar, house load, grid import and export, battery level and flow, and energy generated today. It reads them on your home network and shows them. It does not control anything.
What it needs to work
Please check all of these before ordering. Without them the display can't do its job, and this is the one thing we'd rather sort out before you pay:
- A Sigenergy solar system, with or without a battery. SigBuddy does not work with any other brand of inverter.
- The Modbus TCP server switched on in the mySigen app, under System → System Settings → Modbus TCP Server Settings. It is off from the factory, and some installers lock the setting so that only they can change it.
- A 2.4 GHz wifi network that both the display and your Sigenergy system are connected to.
- A USB power source within reach of where you want it.
Not sure? Email us before you order and we'll tell you honestly whether it will work for you.
Prices and payment
Prices are in New Zealand dollars. We are not registered for GST, so no GST is charged and we can't issue a GST invoice. Payment is taken by Stripe. We never see or hold your card details.
Your order is an offer to buy. It's accepted when we email you to confirm dispatch. If something is out of stock or a price is obviously wrong, we'll contact you and refund you in full rather than quietly substituting something else.
Shipping
- Shipping within New Zealand is $5.
- Shipping to Australia is $20.
- We aim to dispatch within 1–2 working days.
- Once it's dispatched, New Zealand orders usually arrive within 3 working days and Australian orders within 5–7.
Delivery estimates come from the courier and aren't guarantees. If a parcel goes missing in transit, tell us — that's ours to chase, not yours.
Your rights under consumer law
If you're buying as a consumer, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 applies and cannot be contracted out of. Nothing in these terms limits or replaces those guarantees. If you're in Australia, the consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law apply in the same way.
Warranty
We warrant the display against faults for 12 months from delivery. If it fails in that time, email us and we'll repair it, replace it, or refund you.
This doesn't cover damage from drops, liquid, heat, power surges, or from opening or modifying the unit. It's in addition to your rights above, not instead of them.
Returns
Faulty or not as described
Email contact@sigbuddy.com with your order number and what's happening. We pay return postage for genuine faults.
Changed your mind
14 days from delivery, provided the display is unused and comes back in its original packaging. Return postage is yours. We'll refund the price of the display once it arrives; original shipping isn't refunded.
Firmware updates
We release firmware updates from time to time, installed from a page on your own home network. The display works perfectly well if you never update it. We don't promise any particular future feature or update schedule, and updates are offered as they come rather than on a timetable.
Things outside our control
SigBuddy depends on your Sigenergy system continuing to offer Modbus TCP on your local network. We're not affiliated with Sigenergy and we don't control their products, firmware or app. If a change on their side affects how the display works, we'll say so publicly and do what we reasonably can about it. Your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act are unaffected by this paragraph.
What the display is, and isn't
SigBuddy is an information display. It doesn't control your solar system, your battery or your house, and it isn't a metering, safety or protection device. Readings can be wrong, late or missing — if it loses contact with your system it greys the last readings rather than hiding them, so you can tell. Don't rely on it for anything safety-critical, and treat it as a guide rather than a billing-grade meter.
Liability
Except for rights that can't be excluded — including the Consumer Guarantees Act and Australian Consumer Law — our liability for any claim relating to a SigBuddy is limited to what you paid for it. We're not liable for indirect losses, including decisions made on the strength of what the display showed.
Privacy
What we collect and why is set out on our privacy page. Short version: very little, and the display itself sends us nothing.
Which law applies
New Zealand law, and the New Zealand courts. Australian customers keep their rights under the Australian Consumer Law.
Changes to these terms
We may update this page. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.
