Privacy
This explains what personal information we collect when you buy a SigBuddy, why we have it and who else sees it. It's short, because we collect very little and there's nothing to log in to.
The short version
- There's no account, no login and no password — we never hold one.
- This website runs the Meta (Facebook) pixel, which sets a cookie and tells Meta which pages you looked at. It is the only tracking here, and the only third party this site contacts.
- Your card details never reach us or this website. Stripe handles payment.
- We keep your name, email and delivery address so we can send you a display and help you if something goes wrong.
- We don't sell, rent or trade your information to anyone.
What your display sends us: nothing
Worth stating plainly, because it's the part people assume works the other way. SigBuddy reads your solar system over your own home network and draws the result on its screen. Those readings — your generation, your usage, your battery level — stay on the device and your network. They are not sent to us, and we have no ability to see them, now or later. There is no cloud service behind this product.
What we collect
When you buy something
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your delivery address, and a phone number if the courier needs one
- What you ordered, when, and how much you paid
Stripe collects this at checkout and passes it to us so we can fulfil the order. We never receive your full card number — Stripe processes the payment and only tells us that it succeeded.
When you email us
Your email address and whatever you choose to write. If you're asking for help we may end up with details about your solar setup because you've told us about it.
Why we have it
- To take payment and send you what you ordered
- To answer your questions and honour the warranty
- To keep the business records the Inland Revenue requires us to keep
Who else sees it
- Stripe — takes the payment and collects your delivery address. Their privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
- The courier — gets your name, address and phone number, so the parcel arrives.
- Our email provider — holds our correspondence with you, as email providers do.
Nobody else. We don't sell or rent your details, and we don't run ads.
Information going overseas
Stripe processes payments outside New Zealand, so your order details are handled overseas as part of taking payment. We rely on Stripe's own privacy commitments, which you can read at the link above.
This website is served from Cloudflare's network, which spans many countries, so visiting the site involves a server outside New Zealand handling your request. That's true of visiting the site, not of buying — no order information is stored there.
This website
- The Meta pixel is on every page. It sets a cookie
(
_fbp) in your browser and reports each page view to Meta Platforms, so we can see whether our Facebook posts bring anyone here and show ads to people who have visited. Meta receives your IP address and which pages you viewed, and may match that to a Facebook or Instagram account if you have one. It does not receive your name, your email or anything you type. You can stop it with any tracking blocker, or with “Off-Facebook activity” in your Facebook settings. - There is no other analytics and there are no other tracking pixels or social media embeds.
- Typefaces are served from this site itself, not from Google Fonts or any other font service. Apart from the Meta pixel above, reading these pages contacts no third party at all.
- The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which keeps standard server logs including IP addresses, as all web hosts do. Cloudflare is a United States company and serves the site from servers around the world.
How long we keep it
Order and tax records for seven years, because Inland Revenue requires it. Support emails are deleted once they're no longer useful to either of us.
Keeping it safe
Payment information is handled by Stripe, who are set up for exactly that. Order details sit in our Stripe dashboard and our email, and access is limited to the people who need it to send you a display.
Seeing and correcting your information
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct it. Email contact@sigbuddy.com and we'll reply within 20 working days.
Complaints
Tell us first and we'll try to sort it out. If you're not satisfied you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
Changes to this page
If we change how any of this works we'll update this page and change the date at the top.
